One day I was speeding along at the typewriter, and my daughter - who was a child at the time - asked me, "Daddy, why are you writing so fast?" And I replied, "Because I want to see how the story turns out!" . . . Louis L'Amour |

One of Dean's favorite authors was born Louis Dearborn LaMoore in Jamestown, ND on March 22, 1908, the last of seven children in the family of veterinarian Dr. Louis Charles LaMoore and Emily Dearborn LaMoore. He lived in Jamestown for the first 15 years of his life. In 1956 he married Katherine Elizabeth Adams, and in 1961 their son Beau was born and in 1964 a daughter, Angelique. He was editing his long postponed memoir "Education of a Wandering Man" the 1988 afternoon that he died. Bantam Books continues to release the work of Louis L'Amour. "Smoke from this Altar", his 1939 book of poetry, and a revised version of "Yondering" have been released as well as his Hopalong Cassidy novels, and many of his short stories. More information may be found at a Website: http://www.louislamour.com maintained by his son Beau. |
Dean read all of Louis's books, plus others, sometimes he read them more than once.
