Our
2nd day in Paris
was one of exploring all
the wonderful sites, stores, restaurants, museums and just enjoying "The City of Lights". Touring by walking around is the best way to go. ... |

We loved the 'outdoor' vegetable stands, cafes, flower shops and store displays in the streets.

We always meet nice people as we
travel, and this trip was no exception. Staying across the hall from
us at our hotel was a very nice couple, Del and Lorrie from White Bear Lake, MN
(less than 10 miles
from where my daughter, Sherri, lives in Circle Pines, MN). Here we're waiting
for breakfast.
Eiffel Tower
We started our day at the Eiffel Tower, before the crowds arrived.

Palais de Chaillot

Palais de Chaillot, encircling
the Trocadero Gardens (Our View from the 2nd level).
Each curved colonnaded wing culminates in a vast pavilion, and was designed in
Neo-
Classical style for the 1937 Paris Exhibition. The square between the two
pavilions
is highly decorated with bronze sculptures, ornamental pools, an shooting
fountains.
Beneath the terrace is the 1,200 seat Theatre National de Chaillot.

My favorite model (a good sport about photos) on the 2nd level of the Eiffel Tower!

Another view of the most famous landmark in Paris!

"My favorite Tourist!" At each of the 4 bases was a gift shop and ticket sales to ride the elevator.

This picture gives some idea of the
size of the Eiffel Tower. Our weather was
beautiful and we came back again in the evening to see the Tower all lit up!

The Eiffel Tower at Night!

Since 2003, 20,000 lights sparkle for ten minutes on the hour until 2 a.m.

Don't miss this view! It's like the entire tower is covered in sparkling diamonds!
