(Zeppelin Eureka)


Ever ridden in or flown a Zeppelin? Few of us ever have. Below are a few photos from 'Zeppelin Eureka' (At 246' long, it is the largest airship in the world), over San Francisco Bay.  Enjoy these amazing photos taken by Professional Photographer Bernard Zee. You can experience it too @ $495. for a one-hour ride. The 'Eureka' is one of only 3 airships in the world and the only one in the USA. The others are in Germany and Japan.

Definitions: A Zeppelin is a Type A-rigid aircraft, a large dirigible balloon consisting of a long, cylindrical, covered framework containing compartments or cells filled with gas, and various structures for holding the engines, passengers, etc. Built in 1900 to carry passengers and was used in WWI for bombing and reconnaissance.

A Blimp is a Type B-limp aircraft is without internal framework. The Blimp is mostly used for observation or as a barrage balloon.
